Walking tips for Golden Retrievers

Many Goldens are happiest carrying something. Bring a toy for them to hold on the walk.
That thick coat traps heat. On warm days, walk early and plan a swim instead of a long hike.
Goldens mature slowly. Protect puppy joints and hold off on jogging until they're fully grown.
Protect growing joints: no forced running or repetitive jumping until growth plates close, around 12 to 18 months.
